Waiting With Great Expectation

My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him.

Psalm 62:5

It’s been a while, so please forgive me for the delay! With the excitement of all things Christmas in my household, and the increased workload professionally, I’ve been here, there, and everywhere (shoutout to Dr. Seuss)! This Christmas feels a little different… The fullness of the reason for this season has finally come full circle… And what do I mean by that exactly? Well, I was sitting in church during the start of advent, when the Holy Spirit gave me a revelation. In summary of the sermon that was delivered, it was explained how the season of advent is a waiting season. It’s a season of waiting with great expectation. It was in that moment that I understood that for many of us, we are in a waiting season. Whether the promise is grand or minute, we should be waiting with great expectation. When God delivered his promises over our lives, he meant it. This revelation from the Holy Spirit is allowing me to view this season in a different light. During this last leg of my waiting season, I’m choosing to believe God. I’ve been telling God that I trust him. And I still trust in God for everything, but now I just simply choose to believe. God, I believe you! This hasn’t just shifted my mindset. My heart posture has also shifted. There is a fullness in my spirit because I know that the Lord will deliver. Just like he promised the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, everything that God has ever spoken has come and will come to pass.

The scripture above is the joyful hope and expectation that we should have as we are waiting on Jesus for Christmas. For those of us who are extra, we go all out for Christmas. With multiple trees (we have three), wreaths, nativity scenes, lights, bells, and if you’re me bows. We prepare for this grand celebration because it’s one of the greatest promises that God has ever fulfilled (in my humble opinion). So why do we doubt the promises God has for us? God sent Jesus here, just for us, all of us. So why would his individual promises for us be any different? God loves each and every one of us so much. So, if God made you a promise, he will stand ten toes down on his visions, messages, confirmations, and his word. The same spirit of joy that we find during this time of the year, we should find the same joy in our season of waiting. The word wait in the bible means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. This waiting is part of God’s process that the Holy Spirit navigates us through. God truly loves each and every one of us. And he will make sure, that his will is done. Part of the Lord’s Prayer states; “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10. It’s already written in heaven. So may his will in heaven continue to manifest here on earth.

This week I have a new simple saying. “I believe!!!!” I believe it for you, for me, and for ALL of us. This waiting season has felt like a never-ending rollercoaster of emotions with the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. Yet that one powerful message from a sermon, has shifted my heart posture to just simply believing the vision. The Lord heard all of our prayers, and he will remember us, in his divine timing. I’ve said many prayers in a similar temperament as Hannah prayed with deep anguish and crying bitterly (paraphrased from 1 Samuel 1: 10). And right now, I’m choosing to rejoice. Hannah’s prayer of rejoicing in 1 Samuel 2:1 would come after the birth of Samuel. However, because we know our Heavenly Father. We can rejoice while we are in the waiting room. Lord, I praise you because I believe the promises you have just for me, and I’m waiting on you to fulfill it with great expectation and anticipation. I pray that the remainder of December 2023, will fill our minds, hearts, and spirits with joyful celebrations for our Christmas season, and for our seasons of favor. May we all find favor in his sight.

Always with love,

Love Esther
